Despite hitting their peak as a live band in 2023, Glasgow was in a transitionary stage. Venues that were once a mainstay of the abstracts were closing in rapid succession. Frustrated by lack of progress, haemorrhaging money and struggling with substance issues, White announced the groups dissolution. They performed their final show in November of 2024.
‘The Black Market Of Fashion’ came out soon after on the newly founded Slush Poppy record label. BMOF is like a book of short stories with an overarching narrative of finding solidarity in your own alienation. Beginning with “Sic Sac Wuss”, a punchy slice of Jazz-punk about a recurring childhood nightmare; “Distinguished Company” a dive into life with neurodivergence that sounds both smooth and regal; and “Feudalism Ragtime” an elegy to societal longevity in the age of gluttony and one of Kate Fleming’s finest musical achievements. Right up to its groovy barn-burner finale, “10,000,000 Tiles”, BMOF takes you on a walk through the annals of your anxieties and leaves you to team up with your inner demons in order to more efficiently wreak havoc on the world that has made you this way.
